How to Repair the 1993 Toyota Corolla Dome Light

How to Repair the 1993 Toyota Corolla Dome Light

The dome light in a Toyota Corolla illuminates the interior of the vehicle when any of the doors are opened. The light also comes on when the doors are unlocked using the keyless entry remote. The dome light mounts in the center of the roof panel on the interior of the vehicle and a clear plastic piece protects the bulb from damage. You need to remove this plastic piece to change out the bulb, which you can find at auto-parts and hardware stores.

Instructions

things you'll need:

  • Flat-head screwdriver
  • Replacement dome light bulb
    • 1

Shift the Corollas's transmission into park and turn off the engine. Set the parking brake.

    • 2

Insert a flat-head screwdriver between the clear plastic dome light cover and the dome light housing. Twist the screwdriver in order to pop off the clear plastic dome light cover, exposing the dome light bulb.

    • 3

Grip the bulb and pull it straight out of its socket. Twisting or rotating is not required; the bulb pulls directly out.

Install a new bulb and snap the plastic cover into place. Test the dome light.
